FOUNDATIONAL MISSION. Gateway was launched on the vision from the Lord that can be summed up on the following Scripture: Luke 4:18 - “The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, because He has anointed Me to preach the gospel to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are oppressed;â€
As a full gospel fellowship, members of Gateway actively seek to be Baptized, filled & empowered by the Holy Spirit for the work of the ministry (“The Spirit of he Lord is upon me because He has anointed meâ€), to evangelize those who do not yet know the Christ as their Savior and Disciple new believers (“to preach the gospel to the poorâ€), to counsel, comfort and edify those who are hurting and to lay hands on the sick that they may be healed (“He has sent me to heal the brokenheartedâ€), for Intercession and Deliverance to those in the bondage of sin and the enemy (“to proclaim liberty to the captives, to set at liberty those who are oppressedâ€), and to preach God’s truth with love that the spiritually blind would see God and know Him for Who He is (“recovery of sight to the blindâ€).
When Jesus spoke Luke 4:18, He was reading from Isaiah 61:1-2. He purposefully stopped speaking in the middle of verse 2 and the last half reads: “And [to proclaim] the day of vengeance of our God.â€
What’s referred to in this verse is His Second Coming, and the reason our Savior stopped reading before this part 2000 years ago was He knew that He must be crucified, die and be resurrected before anyone began to proclaim He was coming back. We at Gateway believe that the time for both the Rapture and the Second Coming is near, encouraging us to study and proclaim the Scriptures having to do with End Times Prophecy that all may have a chance to be prepared.
MOTIVATION. Whereas Luke 4:18 and Isaiah 61:2 is our direction, the vehicle that drives us there can be found in Matthew 22:36-40 - “Teacher, which is the great commandment in the law?†Jesus said to him, “‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like it: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets.â€
Our motivation to perform the works of Luke 4:18 and Isaiah 61:2 are not done from religious duty, but are directly inspired by God’s all encompassing love for mankind, our love for Him and our love for people.
GATEWAY: “THE WAY†STATION. Even though Jesus was God made flesh, He didn’t come here to share the gospel by Himself. A significant proportion of His ministry was preparing and equipping His disciples to assist Him while He was still here and carry on after He was gone. Gateway aims for all its members to be properly equipped and instructed in The Way, which is Christ (John 14:6) in obedience to The Great Commission where Christ commanded us to “make disciples of all nations, teaching them to observe all things which I commanded you†(Matthew 28:19-20, emphasis added).
Ephesians 4:12-13 –“for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ, till we all come to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a perfect man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ;â€
Gateway strives to meet the spiritual needs of anyone who walks through our doors. We’re excited and prepared to introduce Jesus Christ to someone who does not know Him. To disciple a new believer with the milk of the Word (1 Peter 2:2), and to equip and instruct someone inspired by their love for the Lord and the people to perform the works of Luke 4:18 & Isaiah 61:2.
MOVING AHEAD. Gateway is always seeking a fresh Word of Knowledge, Wisdom or Prophecy from the Lord to continue fleshing out the plan He has for us. We believe we’re in the Last Days before the return of Christ, when the greatest trials will come for Christians and where Holy Spirit revival will sweep through the nations and the harvest of souls will be like never before. Walking by faith, Gateway is moving in this direction and we’d love for you to join us.
